Educational institutions, religious places, spas, salons, retail stores, banks, and others are crazy about hidden shoppers. The employee appraisal system is not enough to know the truth. Its only when an undercover shopper, disguised as regular customer, steps inside the store that the skeletons come out of the closet.
The demand for quality check shoppers has shot up to such an extent that everyday you can find a new mystery shopping employer emerging out of nowhere. Although it sounds like good news, it may not be that good. Redundancy of such companies that hire shoppers has led to the rise of scams. Amidst a flood of shopper services, there are many of them who are simply there to trick people and extract money. The bad thing is that these sites look so real that people may not have the slightest idea of what they are getting into. This is the sad truth of a booming industry. You have to deal with fakes.
So, the next time you think of taking up the job of a hidden shopper, think twice. It is not only about buying things at the store. You need to develop tactics to extract the inside story of the store. You need to ask questions or take services from the employees in such a manner that they think you are only an inquisitive customer and thus get the necessary details. If you are confident of carrying out the assignment correctly, you can contact a mystery shopping employer . But, if you are only good at buying things, you are better off as a customer, not a mystery shopper.
